The original PAHPA law was created to improve the nation’s public health and medical preparedness and response capabilities for emergencies, whether deliberate, accidental, or natural. Last week, a bipartisan U.S. Senate passed the bill (S 1379) and today the U.S. House of Representatives did the same. For the first time, the bill specifically mentions environmental health.
