Timothy Watkins has been with the US EPA for over 25 years and is currently the Director of the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) in the US EPA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD). NERL is a research organization of over 275 scientists and administrative professionals providing exposure science leadership within EPA, across the Federal research community, and the broader scientific community nationally and internationally while conducting innovative exposure science research to improve methods, measurements, and models to characterize, reduce and prevent exposures to harmful environmental stressors. Prior to his current role, Tim served as the Deputy National Program Director for EPA’s Air, Climate, and Energy research program, Acting Director of the Environmental Public Health Division in the ORD’s National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL), Deputy Director of the Human Exposure and Atmospheric Sciences Division in NERL, and Assistant Laboratory Director for Air Research in NERL. Throughout his career at EPA, Tim has focused on building and supporting collaborative relationships within and outside of the Agency including leading efforts for EPA contributions to the US Centers for Disease Control’s Environmental Public Health Tracking program.
