Standardization of restaurant inspections can create a critical denominator for food borne illness investigation correlation, guide health department resource management and process improvement, improve food safety practices and provide a resource for the consumer. There are challenges, but there are lessons learned and tools under development that will be shared. Food safety practices will improve.
