Description

Most states do not require a site-specific environmental assessment for child care facilities; without an assessment, facilities could be unknowingly located in places that are harmful to children. Potentially toxic exposures could be occurring at 2-5% of child care facilities. To assist in preventing the unsafe siting of child care facilities, the Children's Environmental Health Network, the National Association of County and City Health Officials and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry are teaming up to support the implementation of state-based safe siting initiatives that integrate best practices and policies into the early child care education setting.
