Frieda von Qualen is a health communications planner at the Minnesota Department of Health, Division of Environmental Health. She primarily focuses on designing and implementing effective outreach for private well users. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College (bachelor degrees in religion and political science) and Humphrey School of Public Affairs (master’s degree in international development practices, certificate in nonprofit management, and minor in public health). von Qualen started her career in public health as a Peace Corps Volunteer, working on water, sanitation, and hygiene projects for three years in Peru. She was then a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fellow based in New Orleans, working on maternal and child health and emergency preparedness and response for two years.
