Dr. Miguel A. Cruz, PhD, MPH, is a Senior Public Health Emergency Management Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He is currently assigned to a field position with the Puerto Rico Department of Health. He has served on several leadership and support roles with incident management teams deployed to hurricanes Wilma, Katrina, Rita, Ernesto, Ike, Gustav, Matthew, and Harvey. Most recently he served as a lead for the Public Health Branch for the Incident Management Team deployed to PR and the US Virgin Islands during the response to hurricanes Irma and Maria by the Department of Health and Human Services. He has also assisted during several international outbreak emergency responses in Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Japan, Mexico, and Panama.  Dr. Cruz holds a Bachelor of Science in Management, a Master in Public Health with concentration in Epidemiology, and a doctoral degree (PhD) in Public Health.
