Teaser: Local health departments (LHDs), especially in home rule state and rural communities, are well-positioned to lead efforts to embed health considerations into policymaking across sectors. Increased coordination and collaboration between cities and counties can lead to improved government efficiency, shared goals across sectors, and better infrastructure to support county, city and regional agencies. Come learn how CDC and a group of national partners (NEHA, ASTHO, NACCHO and NCHH) have come together to support a joint project to improve specific childhood lead poisoning prevention activities in a set of communities through a cross sector approach utilizing a health in all policies framework. Participants will learn more about cross-sector strategies communities are taking to prevent childhood lead poisoning, along with strategies and tactics that they can use to increase cross sector partnership and health in all policies strategies in their own work.
