Bio
Dr. Paschal Nwako is a licensed health officer, registered environmental health specialist, certified health education specialist and certified municipal registrar in the State of New Jersey. He is the President of New Jersey Public Health Association and the immediate past President of New Jersey Environmental Health Association. He is a member of many public health boards and an advocate for public health. He has worked in the field of public health for 21 years. Dr. Nwako is presently the Camden County Health Officer. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, a Master’s degree in Public Health from Rutgers University and a Doctorate (PhD) in Health Sciences from Seton Hall University. He worked to reorganize the Camden County Health Department and became the first County Health Department in New Jersey to be accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board. He started the Annual Camden County Board of Health Summit to bring all municipalities in Camden County to form a board of health. He started his career in Public Health at the New York City Health Department, having trained at the New York City Health Academy. Dr. Nwako is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Sanitarians. He received the National Environmental Health Association Certificate of Merit for his meritorious contribution to Public Health in New Jersey, United States and Public Health outreach in West Africa. He is the Immediate Past President of New Jersey Environmental Health Association (NJEHA) and the President of New Jersey Public Health Association (NJPHA). He received the NJEHA President’s award in March 2008. He has served on many public health boards including New Jersey Association of City & County Health Officials (NJACCHO), Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) and the New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN). He received the 2016 New Jersey Local Boards of Health Association Certificate of Recognition and 2017 Health Officer of the Year Award. Dr. Nwako has been on many panel discussions and presentations during conferences and meetings in diverse topics concerning public health. He is an advocate of collaboration and partnership which he believes is the key to success of all public health departments and health agencies.
