Bio

Dr. Warren Friedman is the Senior Advisor to the Director of the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. His work on environmental health and safety of the built environment involves policy development and monitoring, research (with over three dozen publications), strategic development, training and outreach programs development, and regulatory review and development. Before coming to HUD in 1995, he was the Senior Industrial Hygienist for the U.S. General Services Administration, dealing with environmental health and safety policy and issues for the federally owned and rented building stock. He has chaired the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA’s) Indoor Environmental Quality Committee and its Practice Standards and Guidelines Committee, been President of the Environmental Information Association, and been a member of the Board of the National Institute of Building Sciences, among activities in a range of professional and intergovernmental organizations. In particular, for his presentation today, he is the HUD Co-Chair of the Lead Subcommittee of the federal Children’s Environmental Health Task Force. Dr. Friedman is Certified in the Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene and is a Fellow of the AIHA.
