Caroline County's Opioid Operational Plan worked to combat the increasing number of overdoses occurring in our community. WHAT – The CC Opioid Overdose Prevention Program provided skills to help heroin and opioid overdose prevention, increase treatment, and help the community. WHY – Overdose deaths surged in Maryland, which resulted in an urgent / growing public health threat affecting all demographics. HOW – Educated Medical Providers/ERs/EMS/School Health Staff, Patients/Citizens on the dangers of Opioid use, how to prevent abuse of prescription medications, provided Narcan Trainings and addiction and treatment options.
