The recent invalidation of the maximum contaminant level of hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] has a unique impact to San Bernardino County as portrayed in the media with the film, Erin Brockovich, starring Julia Roberts. San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, Division of Environmental Health Services shares its experience of working with small public water systems in Hinkley, CA, facing high levels of Cr(VI) in drinking water, as well as efforts to develop a County-wide water quality map based on well samples to provide County residents with individual wells knowledge of their water quality.
