Ph.D.: Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health – Environmental Health Sciences, 2010 B.S.: University of Central Florida – Microbiology and Molecular Biology, 2002 Kristen Gibson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science at the University of Arkansas. Her experience is primarily in the field of Environmental Health Sciences with a focus on microbial water quality and detection of viral pathogens in environmental matrices including food, water, and air. Kristen’s past and present research interests are primarily focused on understanding the fate and transport of pathogens within the environment, optimization of methods for the detection of viral pathogens in food and water and on environmental surfaces, and food safety at the retail and consumer level.
