David Engelskirchen is a FDA Retail Food Specialist with FDA’s Office of State Cooperative Programs, based out of Tacoma, WA. He is responsible for assisting retail food safety and food defense programs of regulatory health agencies in Washington and Nevada. He currently serves as a Co-Chair on the FDA National Retail Food Team Industry Outreach Workgroup. Prior to FDA, he served as a Food Inspector and Food Safety Officer in the United States Army Veterinary Corps, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer Five, as the Chief, Inter-Agency Coordination (Food Safety) at the Defense Health Agency in Falls Church, VA. David has BS Degrees in Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University and in Food Science from the University of Wisconsin and an MA in Education from Central Michigan University.
