CDR David Bales is currently the Injury Prevention Specialist for the Oklahoma Area Indian Health Service (IHS). He is responsible for managing the Oklahoma Area Injury Prevention Program, assisting over 30 tribes in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and IHS staff in the development of community based injury prevention program. David also serves as chair of the Oklahoma City Area Commissioned Corps Awards Committee, co-chair of the Environmental Health Officer Professional Advisory Marketing & Recruitment Subcommittee and serves on the Oklahoma Sanitarian and Environmental Specialist registration Advisory Council. David’s past positions include the Safety Officer/Emergency Management Coordinator for the Claremore Indian Hospital in the Oklahoma Area Indian Health Service and as the Environmental Health Officer of the Parker Service Unit in Parker, AZ. His education background includes a BS in Environmental Health from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, the IHS Injury Prevention Fellowship and an MPH from the University of Oklahoma.
