Bio

Steve has been a Research Scientist and Hydrogeologist with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for 35 years. He manages research on the sources, mobilization, fate, transport, and effective water treatment of arsenic, radionuclides, and other naturally occurring contaminants in NJ aquifers. He assists other state agencies and the public with water quality and hydrogeologic issues. He has worked on hundreds of sites with contaminated groundwater. His current focus is investigating and finding solutions for contaminated residential private drinking water wells from both man-made and natural contamination sources, as well as developing outreach and education for the population using private wells and the residential water treatment industry. Dr. Spayd received his MPH and PhD from University of Medicine and Dentistry School of Public Health.
