On September 18, 2018, California's Governor signed AB 626 Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations into history. The controversial and anomalous law was collectively opposed by California's Public Health experts. Similar “Food Freedom” laws have been established, however, the intent of the California legislature and its supporters was to create small-scale home economic opportunities to benefit and provide economic empowerment, food access, and protect vulnerable communities (Social Justice). The panel will discuss the pros and cons of the bill and the impact from a local jurisdiction's perspective.
